UO NIGIRI STORY

During the 2020 pandemic, owner-chef Yusuke Irie used his experience and connections as a fresh fish wholesaler to start Whitefin Market, which sells sashimi frozen with a special Japanese process that allows for freezing without compromising freshness.

In addition to selling online and at local farmers' markets in Torrance, we have frequently served sushi to Hollywood celebrities, famous athletes, and large corporate parties, wowing their palates with our sushi catering service using fresh fish.

We have also received rave reviews from many of our customers and requests to “start a sushi restaurant!”

Finally, in August 2024, UO NIGIRI was born in Marina Del Rey.

We offer three different omakase courses, each using an abundance of fresh Japanese fish, at a reasonable price because a fishmonger directly sells to us.

This restaurant was founded by the owner, who wanted to make authentic Japanese sushi available to as many people as possible.

OUR FISH

We source seasonal fresh fish, carefully selected by a professional with an eye developed since the age of 16 in the cooking and fish wholesale business, mainly from Toyosu Market in Tokyo, New Zealand, and the East and West Coasts of the United States. While other sushi restaurants buy pre-cut tuna, we make sure our sushi is as fresh as can be by buying only whole, wild Bluefin Tuna.

All fish are purchased fresh and prepared in-store, so we can deliver the highest quality to our customers.

We offer a wide range of fish, from standard types to rare ones that are seldom available in the United States.
